Hi there! My name is Joshua Cohen and I create amazing audio for games, films, and other media. I began my musical journey at the young age of four playing classical piano. At the age of eleven I took up guitar, drums, and music production. From then through high school I played in bands of diverse genre, composing and producing music for a wide variety of ensembles, and styles; everything from classical, to rock, to pop. It was in high school that I really started to take notice of the impact music had in my favorite films and games, so I set my sights on Berklee College of Music. I double majored in Film Scoring and Composition, and minored in Video Game Scoring. By the time I graduated I had won the BMI Film Scoring Award, and had acquired a deep understanding of the roles music and sound play in media. I strive to create audio that resonates with the truest nature of the projects I work on, whether it be a melody that captures the essence of a character, or designing meaningful sounds for games that set the perfect tone and mood.
In these past few years I’ve spent my time working as an assistant to film composer Mario Grigorov, lending my skills as a music producer, composer, and tech whiz. I’ve also had the pleasure of working as lead composer/sound designer at Darkraven Games, where we create incredible unique audio packages. Everyday I bring my passions to new and exciting projects, where I get to further explore the power that sound has to immerse people in unforgettable experiences.
You should reach out if you’re…
• Looking for a highly organized creative partner who wants to bring your project and vision to life with custom audio.
• Looking for the potential option of paying one flat fee instead of managing the uncertainty that accompanies paying by the minute or asset for sound or music.
• Looking for a composer that has studied and created music for almost every genre, and can pull from that diverse body of knowledge to create a unique sonic palate to enhance your project and artistic vision.
• Looking to get audio involved early on in the production process because you understand the value it can have in informing the style and aesthetic in unexpected ways .
• Looking to offload the concerns of creating an amazing audio experience onto my capable shoulders, so that I can worry about budgeting for your film’s musicians, or how to implement with your video game’s middleware, so that you can stay focused on carrying out your vision.
My job is to make you look great and your work of art sound like you dreamed it could.
